About Us​​


Palliative Care enhances the quality of life for patients and their families coping with challenges related to advanced illness. We take a holistic approach, addressing the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual aspects of each individual, facilitated by a multidisciplinary team.

​​ The Palliative & Supportive Care (PalS) service aims to elevate both the science and art of supporting individuals with advanced illness and their families.

 

Our S​ervices​​

We provide specialist assessment and treatment for people with advanced illness, including cancers and non-cancers, with the following services:

Inpatient PalS Service:

Our multidisciplinary palliative care team, comprising doctors, nurses, medical social workers, pharmacists, and therapists, working in our specialized palliative care ward help ensure effective symptom management, psychosocial and spiritual support and co-ordination of care. ​

Additionally, we offer an inpatient consult service to other departments, ensuring comprehensive attention to patients' palliative care requirements across the hospital.

Specialist Clinic

Consultations and follow-up are available in our outpatient palliative care clinic.

Continuity of Care

We work closely with our community partners to ensure smooth care transitions for patients from hospital to community settings.

Our staff are trained to meet relevant needs, including:

  • Management of pain and symptoms

  • Psychological, emotional and spiritual support for the patient and family

  • Exploring goals and preferences for care and treatment

  • Caregiver training and support

  • Grief and bereavement support and counselling
