How long have you been in your role?

I’ve been a nurse for almost 20 years now, and with Woodlands Health since 2018.

Tell us more about your current role.

In my current role as a community nurse, my primary responsibility is to deliver care to patients and residents in the home setting and community. This involves conducting home visits and overseeing the management of residents in community health posts.

My role encompasses conducting comprehensive assessments and performing clinical procedures as needed. Additionally, I play a vital role in coordinating care within the community, ensuring that all patients receive the necessary support and services they require.

What drove you to join healthcare?

What drove me to join healthcare was the desire to engage in meaningful work by providing compassionate care to patients and being a reliable source of support for individuals in their life journeys.

I realised that healthcare would provide the perfect platform for me to make a positive impact on people's lives during their most vulnerable moments. The opportunity to be there for someone during their health challenges and offer a helping hand in their journey to recovery or comfort has been incredibly rewarding.

What is one thing that spurs you on at work?

Knowing that my efforts contribute to patients' well-being and happiness fuels my passion for this profession.

It's the joy of making a real difference in the lives of those I serve that keeps me dedicated and enthusiastic about my role as a healthcare provider.

What is one thing about your job, that you feel is unknown or misunderstood?

The level of dedication and expertise required in nursing is often underestimated. It demands constant learning, adaptability, and the ability to handle diverse and sometimes stressful situations. It's a profession that requires compassion, empathy, and strong communication skills to effectively connect with patients and their families during their most vulnerable times.

What made you join WH?

The opportunity to be part of the team responsible for the hospital's opening was truly exciting!

Growth prospects, the chance to contribute to a significant milestone in the hospital's journey, and being able to work alongside like-minded and supportive colleagues made WH an ideal choice for me.

What advice would you offer to other nurses who aim to make an impact in the healthcare sector?

Embrace a mindset of continuous learning and improvement, as the healthcare sector is constantly evolving.

Never underestimate the impact of empathy and compassion. As a nurse, your ability to connect with patients on a human level can make a world of difference in their healing journey.
