Can you summarise what your job entails in a sentence or two?
As an Executive Assistant in the Bed Management Unit, I handle bed allocation requests through a booking system, ensuring timely placements based on hospital guidelines, priorities, and patient needs. I also monitor bed availability and activate bed-tight measures when necessary, and assist in preparing bed status reports.
How long have you been in your role?
I've been in this role since April 2023.
What led you to choose a career in healthcare?
I chose healthcare because it’s a meaningful and fulfilling field where we make a difference in people's lives. The shift-based work also allows me to maintain a good balance between my job and my responsibilities at home.
What keeps you motivated at work?
A positive and supportive work environment keeps me motivated, especially when teamwork and well-being are valued. Having good relationships with colleagues, taking ownership of my tasks, and having some autonomy also help. Learning new skills and tackling challenges further drive my personal and professional growth.
What aspect of your job do you think is often misunderstood?

Could you share a memorable moment from your time in healthcare?
A memorable moment for me was being part of the soft opening of Woodlands Health in December 2023. I witnessed the dedication and hard work of every department coming together to ensure our first patient received the best care possible.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is improving patients' quality of care behind the scenes by ensuring they are assigned a suitable bed that meets their needs in a timely manner.
Do you have a favourite quote or personal mantra?
Two things define you: Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything.
Why did you decide to join us?
I decided to join Woodlands Health because it’s conveniently located just a stone's throw from my home. Additionally, being part of a new hospital setup gives me a sense of accomplishment, especially with the official opening in May 2024.
What made you stay with us after a year?
The supportive colleagues and the excitement of what lies ahead with the official hospital opening kept me motivated to continue.
