​Renal Medicine, a specialised branch of medicine, is dedicated to patients with kidney diseases, addressing both primary and systemic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

Our role involves early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and the expectant management of kidney damage, aiming to slow down progression.

Inpatient services
  • Acute kidney injury: diagnosis and treatment
  • Glomerulonephritis
  • Care of patients admitted with renal conditions
  • Renal consultation services for medical and surgical subspecialties
  • Renal replacement therapy: haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy


Outpatient Services

  • Specialist outpatient services to manage chronic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerulonephritis and diabetic kidney diseases
  • Low clearance service: multidisciplinary care to prepare and for transition from chronic kidney disease to end stage kidney disease requiring renal replacement therapy
  • Haemodialysis: specialist outpatient services for patients on maintenance haemodialysis
  • Peritoneal dialysis (PD): holistic peritoneal dialysis care with counselling, PD training and PD patients care in outpatient services
  • Renal supportive care for patients who opt for non-dialysis care of end stage kidney disease


Procedures

  • Kidney biopsy for diagnosis of medical renal conditions
  • Haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion and arterio-venous fistula insertion will be performed in conjunction with Surgery and Interventional Radiology departments
