What is healthy weight managem​ent?


Healthy weight management involves a combination of lifestyle changes, such as healthy eating habits, regular exercise and behaviour modifications. In some cases where an individual has very high BMI, medication or surgery may be required to manage obesity. Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of developing several health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke.​

We understand that maintaining a healthy weight can be challenging, but it is worth the effort! By reaching and maintaining a healthy weight, you can reduce your risk of developing obesity related health problems, improve your sleep and increase your self-confidence.

​​​Who is it for?


Generally, the programmes available are suitable for residents with BMI ≥ 23.0 kg/m2 and who would want to inculcate a healthy and active lifestyle.

These programmes aim to educate on safe and sustainable weight loss strategies, educating on food and nutrition and simple exercises that can be done to aid weight loss.

Your weight management journey is unique to you, and we will be here to support you every step of the way. If you would like to find out which programme is suitable for you, you may walk in or schedule an appointment with our Community Health Team.

​​Weight Management Programmes​

​​If you require assistance on the appropriate programme to participate in, you may make walk in or schedule an appointm​ent with our ​ Community Health Team​.

​​​FitterLife 

FitterLife is a 12-week* weight management programme that allows participants to manage their weight via changing lifestyle habits, healthy eating and exercise. 


Participants undergo lectures on nutrition, mindful eating, exercising and stress management, group discussions focusing on behavioural change via goal setting and lastly moderate intensity physical activity, which is a combination of aerobic, resistance and flexibility exercises. As a online programme, you will be able to participate in this programme in the comforts of your home! 


Criteria

Age: 18 – 64 

BMI: ≥ 23 to 37.4 kg/m2 

Suitable for Residents without Chronic Condition

Our health coaches will guide you on the appropriate strategies to take to achieve your health goals.

The journey to weight management does not stop after the programme ends. After graduation from the different programmes, our health coaches will follow up with you and continue to journey through with you on your weight management progress.
