Join our vibrant volunteer family to help create a welcoming and caring environment for our North-Western community.

For May 2024, we are looking for:
Be the warm and friendly face that welcomes patients and visitors
Help them find their way around the hospital, e.g. guide them from the drop-off and meeting points to where they need to be
Introduce the range of services and facilities available at Woodlands Health.
Assist patients and visitors in using digital platforms, such as the Visitor Registration Kiosks and Patient Services Stations, for registration, medication ordering, appointment bookings and payments
Raise awareness of and encourage use of NHG Cares and HealthHub apps
Highlight health education resources that are available on our website.
Accompany and chat with patients in the wards, i.e. patients who are at risk of falling and patients who have been hospitalised for an extended period of time
Provide companionship to patients with cognitive impairments
Engage with dementia patients to promote their wellbeing
Assist nurses in the wards and help with feeding.
Be the friendly and familiar presence and offer comfort to patients, families, and caregivers in the wards
Offer caring gestures, such as providing blankets and warm drinks, to patients
Chat with and provide practical support, especially for socially isolated patients
Provide respite for caregivers during mealtimes or if they need to run an errand
Bring patients to the Woodlands Healing Garden for a change of scenery
Be the extra pair of eyes and ears to complement our nurses’ roles
Assist nurses with basic patient care, such as ordering of meals via the Patient Bedside Terminal and support communal dining
Assist ad-hoc non-clinical tasks in the wards.
Game / Reading Master
Play board games, piece puzzles and/or read with patients at their bedside
Plan and facilitate small group sessions involving board games and/or books.
This programme aims to create a healing environment for our patients through art and music.
Bring cheer and comfort to patients through singing and/or playing musical instrument(s) such as ukulele, guitar, maracas, or tambourine (portable instruments)
Plan and conduct art and crafts activities by the bedside or in small groups
Engage patients in conversations about art and music.
Hey Good Lookin'
Provide hair cutting and/or grooming service to help patients feel fresh and look good
Connect through conversations to understand patients’ stories and experiences
Refer patients to relevant services and support if needed.

Interested in volunteering with us? Here are some things to note:
You should be 18 years and above.
You should be available to volunteer at least once a month.
We have volunteer shifts from Mondays to Saturdays; each shift is 3 hours.
Prior vaccination is required for volunteering.
Ability to speak dialect, Malay and/or Tamil is an advantage.
Training and/or prior experience may be required for the programme facilitator roles.

and we will get in touch with you.
We will give you a call to understand your interests. You may be asked to complete an application form after.
3. Volunteer Orientation
Once you have submitted the application form, you will be required to attend volunteer orientation to learn more about WH and your role as a volunteer.
